Roof Sprinkler System

Introduction

Roof Sprinkler Systems provide cooling by spraying water on the roof surface. The water evaporates and cools the surface. They are simple, and appear to be effective, but would not be a good choice in areas where water is in short supply.

The cost to buy and operate a roof sprinkler system is significantly less than the cost of air conditioning equipment that would be required to deliver the equivalent in cooling tonnage. Roof sprinkler systems are used to:

• Reduce the temperature in buildings without air-conditioning

• Supplement aged and marginally performing air-conditioning equipment

• Reduce the cooling load and electrical power costs of adequately air-conditioned facilities and

• Reduce the cooling load in new construction so that smaller, more economical air-conditioning equipment can be specified and installed.
